This post is going to remind me why I hate ubuntu so much, probably because I tried several releases of ubu and none of them worked. Or is there any more reason?

Full of lies:

Ubuntu is a community developed operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. Whether you use it at home, at school or at work Ubuntu contains all the applications you’ll ever need, from word processing and email applications, to web server software and programming tools.

more lies:

Once installed your system is immediately ready-to-use. On the desktop you have a full set of productivity, internet, drawing and graphics applications, and games.

good PR, though deceitful.

I almost puke:

Ubuntu ‘Just Works’

We’ve done all the hard work for you. Once Ubuntu is installed, all the basics are in place so that your system will be immediately usable.

In the meanwhile, you don’t see any of them doing scams like ubu does.

You don’t have to look far to seek for the truth. Let’s look at the wikis. As a luser, I rarely find ubuntu wiki useful 1 2, what you need is up there ^ see ‘hard work’. Why so cumbersome? I don’t have to deal with these scam shits in opensuse. I search for stuff like java, flash in the search box then I install them. Probably because opensuse has this 1-click install thingy (slow at least it works) and most importantly suse devs is not pussy enough not to have bi arch in their distro. Unlike ubu. more 1 2 3

If I want to read some real technical wiki, this is the place I go to. IMHO ubu’s predecessor contributes more.

While M Shuttle is calling for linux to surpass osx in the near future. I just hope that he would plan another space tour and never come back this time. Humanity my ass.

If there’s one thing I don’t understand about this world it must be the folks who always whine about not having high screen resolution on their tiny laptops, while the ones with high res brag about it all the time.

Personally I blame dell. Oooooo look my 1680×1050/1920×1200 15″ screen display is so crystal clear. All the marketing schemes claiming extra screen estate is bull crap of low shit(whatever that means). Low way low… All I see is tiny images, buttons, fonts crammed together with out of this world dpi setting. The result is a horrendous depiction of already sicken HIG.

Who watches bluray on their laptop? with a TN panel screen? Apple seems to have some sense of the issue. Macbook and Air stay at 1280×800 while Macbook pro 15″ comes with 1440×900. In the latest news, Sony Z 13″ does 1600×900…

the coolest teaser trailer I have ever seen. I hope Zack Snyder will pull this off. I have learned some info about the graphic novel and I love Alan Moore’s works just by reading some of the prefaces. Wish I have time to read his stuff. I know Moore pisses at all the movie adaptation of his works but damn V for Vendetta is one of my favourite film.

One of the special effect companies responsible for Watchmen probably used linux on their render farm but it still doesn’t change the fact that your ubuntu can’t suspend all the laptops in the market :p

So which one? Reading both is kinda time wasting for me. Currently I’m reading engadget not because it’s better but because I never look into both blog networks in detail. Although I put these blogs in the ‘timewaste’ tab of my netvibes homepage I do admit that sometimes it’s quite fun to read them.

Based on my impressions, Engadget is well categorized(’sections’ at right side of the blog). It has more visitors compared to gizmodo. I always find that Gizmodo has more interesting posts(at least to me). I also heard that gizmodo has more posts(not sure if it’s true). I just decided to read gizmodo from now on cause to me the blog is like ’stuff that matters(I don’t read slashdot :/) along with some interesting posts’.  The same applies to other gawker media blogs. Gawker has some cool blogs i.e. io9, lifehacker, fleshbot(nsfw), gawker, vallegwag, defamer. In contrast, engadget, joystiq tend to have too many PR, industry news which is not really my taste.

I do hope the comments on gizmodo are as nifty and informative as the ones I read on engadget :)

Out of dozens of my rss feeds. I enjoy io9, lifehacker and now gizmodo from gawker media.

Gaming on linux is always an oxymoron to me…

1. Why would someone enjoy playing any of these lifeless copycat titles is beyond me. Maybe some of them are aspiring game developers compiling their own modified version of the games just to see how far they can stretch the graphic engine or something…

2. Some even pay for it every month. Willing to wait a few months for some latest hits to be running on their beloved desktop. Before receiving all the fun of gaming, they have to go through series of tweaking and patching just so they can play their bug ridden games. Compare to some overyhyped MMO charging $/month, MMO sounds really worth it.

3. I have to post this. This ‘guide’ is just so scary to me :|

You see gaming to me as a hardcore-casual gamer is really a time consumig activity. If I want some gaming fun I bet I spend my time on the best I could find.

Like some classic

or no machine can run me ‘full high’

you can never go wrong with console

Best Advice: Never game on linux. Reboot to you know what platform.

If there’s one thing I’m really pissed about linux that must be Xserver(brought to you by Xorg).

You see. I kinda know xorg.conf in & out. I probably could write a full xorg.conf file with my eyes blindfolded but sometimes I still don’t get it… Why do we have to tinker with a config file in order for us to say connect your laptop with a projector?

To those linux zealots or lusers(from linuxhaters jargon) who say there’s a graphical interface allow you to accomplish that.. those people can go home and start eating my penguin shit for dinner.

I happen to know a thing called xrandr and after I have mastered the xrandr skill so I could conjure some xrandr magic to hook my laptop up with a projector. The often results would be overscan or wrong wirescreen aspect ratio. 1024×768 saved my ass tons of time though.

It’s 2008 and X still couldn’t get the right resolution for your laptop.(not mine though I’m lucky :p) No driver? Do you need one when connecting a projector? in Linux? My macbook does it without driver or conf file/xrandr.

Modeline. I hate this word. Do you need it? You know what? A xorg devs (developer) said I need it. Another said I need no modeline in my xorg.conf file. Just Brilliant… I parse some edid bin out of my LCD TV anyway. Align them gracefully along with other sections of xorg. Double check with xorg log for all the accurate parameters such as vertical, horizontal refresh rate and some pixel clocks.

Some lusers or probably the devs themselves have been saying xorg.conf is already obsolete, you dont actually need it.Yeah right…

I know a guy who works for some major production movie studio. He told me there’s a linux software cooler than final cut studio called IFX piranha cinema. He also told me the experience is like driving a porsche on the road of Baghdad. (Full of messy shits)

I always consider linux to be more stable than windows.

As if horrible plagues fell upon my beloved linux desktop… My heart dropped.

A Terminal failed on the straight face of PenguinRage.

Moreover, in another isolated case, the gvfs fuse daemon thing which powers the gnome desktop filled up my entire root partition so it could officially crashed my linux desktop.

EPIC.

P.S. Linux is the most stable OS on the planet. (without gnome)

What’s the first thought a linux user think about when buying a laptop?

Another question: ‘Will everything work?’

What’s the first thought a windows user think about when buying a laptop?

Anything but ‘Will everything work?’

Sincere Advice: Google the laptop model and the distro you intend to use or go to www.linux-laptop.net/

Who are you and why are you doing this?

I’m a experienced linux user who feels compelled to tell the truth about Linux. The good, the bad and the weird. I can only think of the bad right now though. A lot of bad actually. Wish me luck :)

When did you start using linux?

Years ago. It introduced me to the world of computing, as well as tons of shit came along with it.

Does it make any sense that you are a linux user yourself and you are bashing linux?

This is Linux. It doesn’t have to make any sense…

Tell me honestly, who are you? Linus?

No, I’m one of those inglorious bastards who are babbling bad things about linux.

So any difference between you and linuxhaters?

Linuxhaters use hate to tell the truth. I just tell the truth… with a little rage.

Your opinion on Linus, RMS, M Shuttleworth?

Linus: Good man, smart work. I bet he acknowledged deep down within his heart what a shitty mess has been built upon his groundbreaking kernel.

RMS: never care.

M Shuttle… wait.. M Ubuntuneverworksonmylaptop Shuttleworth?

Any visible goal in the coming future for the blog?

Scattering the seeds of truth about linux using the least efforts possible…

What to expect?

Truths in a few words. Hopefully some lovely pics. I love pic.

Last words?

See I’m a penguin and not very good in english. Let the rage begins!
